ABOUT MELISSA
MEET MELISSA
Hi! I’m Melissa Reade, a Certified Nutrition Specialist, Certified Dietician-Nutritionist and Health Coach. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about me. I’m sure you have some important questions, like, “Who is this and why is she qualified to help me?” I promise to get to that, but first I want you to know that my intention is not only to provide you with knowledge, but also to support you. It’s not just the “what” that will get you feeling better, it’s the “how.” My approach is to consider you as a whole person. So let’s combine your expertise with mine and get you on the path to better health and wellness!
What is my expertise and training?
Growing up a dancer, I have always had a profound passion for the human body. Fascinated with anatomy and physiology, my passion for movement helped shape my interest in nutrition and wellness. This enthusiasm ultimately led me to study Nutrition Science while in college, and earn my MS in Clinical Nutrition and Integrative Health.
Like most of my clients, I have struggled with digestive issues for years, not to mention migraines, nutrient deficiencies, and thyroid conditions. After being diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), and given a prescription, I was confident I would start to feel better. Unfortunately, this was not the case. It wasn’t until I understood the root cause of my symptoms that true healing could begin.
Let’s face it – dealing with chronic disease is no fun (to put it mildly). Not only do chronic diseases affect your overall health but they can also affect work, your social life, your romantic life, your workouts, your mental health, your self-confidence and your quality of life. I understand first-hand what it is like to live with a chronic condition, the need to find answers, and most importantly, to find relief.
My educational and personal experience makes me uniquely qualified to work with you and get to the root cause of your symptoms.
When I'm not consulting with clients, I love to spend time cooking and baking healthy (and sometimes not so healthy) food, reading the latest in health-science literature, getting on my mat for a sweaty yoga flow, taking a dance class, hiking and listening to classic vinyl.
